The Client

Ashcroft Anthony, founded in 2006 by Dominic Anthony and Adrian Wilson, is a professional services firm and chartered accountants. Dominic and Adrian had a vision of creating a firm that moves beyond tradition to provide a highly personalised service to successful companies and individuals. They have built an impressive portfolio of clients from rapidly growing technology-based companies to landed estates and high net worth individuals.

The Brief

The client approached the specialist Accountancy Recruitment team at The ONE Group with a remit to audit and review the current reward and benefit structure at the firm in addition to analysing and assisting in the redesigning of their interview and selection process.

They wanted to ensure the packages they were offering to fee earning staff were comparable with current market rates and trends allowing them to be competitive when attracting new staff as well as aiding in the retention of their current talent.

In addition, they were keen to improve their interview process which hadn’t been carefully reviewed since inception. They looked to The ONE Group for expertise in various interviewing techniques used in the market for ideas on how they could redesign their process. They wanted to ensure that Ashcroft Anthony were identifying not only the right new talent but also those individuals who DON’T share the companies values, ethos and ambitions.

Our Approach

With an extensive network across the practice community in the local area, The ONE Group was ideally placed to research and collate the relevant market information to allow an accurate comparison of Ashcroft Anthony’s reward and benefit structure.  We used our reputation in the candidate market and our strong relationships with other local practices to invite individuals from both communities to share information relevant to the project.

The Outcome

Ashcroft Anthony were presented with accurate market information about the salary and benefits offered in the local area. This included an insight into the rewards offered at the various experience/qualification levels relevant to the firm and allowed Ashcroft Anthony to review what was already a very competitive package and to plan for a few minor amendments.

The experienced consultants of the Accountancy Recruitment team also presented a review of their current interview structure; some suggestions on how this could be developed and adapted to suit the firms style and introduced new techniques/tools used in interviewing that hadn’t before been considered. This was in an open forum discussion which allowed the Directors and Partners of Ashcroft Anthony to tap into the expertise of the consultants from The ONE Group to help them understand in further detail how these new techniques could compliment their current structure and what value it would bring to the processes, ultimately making them more efficient. Thanks to this, the client has committed to the implementation of some of these interviewing techniques and will be approaching their next recruitment campaign, safe in the knowledge that if the right candidate for the firm is presented to them, they will know it!
