{"id":1721,"date":"2026-02-09T18:28:31","date_gmt":"2026-02-09T18:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/technical.theonegroup.co.uk\/job\/senior-hardware-engineer\/"},"modified":"2026-09-25T15:33:57","modified_gmt":"2026-09-25T15:33:57","slug":"senior-hardware-engineer","status":"expired","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/theonegroup.co.uk\/tech\/?post_type=job_listing&p=1721","title":{"rendered":"Senior Hardware Engineer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Senior Hardware Engineer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you enjoy solving complex engineering problems in safety-critical environments and want to see your designs move from concept through to real-world deployment, this could be <strong>YOUR<\/strong> next step.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This well-established, technology-driven organisation in the Cambridge area is investing heavily in its next generation of products and is looking to bring in an experienced <strong>Senior Hardware Engineer<\/strong> to strengthen a highly capable Baseband Hardware team.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You will be joining a collaborative, technically ambitious environment where engineers are trusted with ownership, encouraged to influence design decisions, and supported to develop both technically and professionally.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why this role?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Work on technically demanding, safety-critical electronic platforms<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Take real ownership of features and subsystems within major product developments<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Be part of a stable, growing engineering group with long-term product roadmaps<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Influence design decisions from early architecture through to verification<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hardware, systems and verification<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What you will be doing:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Owning delivery of defined product features or significant sections of larger platforms<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Designing intrinsic safety circuitry for ATEX-certified products, including thermal management and current-limiting strategies<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Developing microprocessor-based systems with integrated sensors<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Creating efficient, low-power power-supply architectures for demanding operating environments<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Designing audio amplifier solutions up to 10W<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Leading design verification, EMC validation and system-level testing<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Producing high-quality technical documentation to support release and certification<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What we need from you:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>A degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent industry experience)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Proven experience developing hardware for ATEX-certified or intrinsically safe environments<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Strong understanding of intrinsic-safety principles and regulatory compliance pathways<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Experience with microprocessor systems, low-power architectures and power-saving strategies<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Confidence across serial interfaces such as I\u00b2S, I\u00b2C, UART and USB (USB 3.0 particularly welcome)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The ability to communicate complex designs clearly through written technical documentation<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>A proactive, collaborative mindset and comfort working in evolving development programmes<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>An added bonus\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>EMC and ESD design experience at component and system level<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Exposure to complex mixed-signal architectures<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Audio system design experience<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Familiarity with embedded Linux environments, board bring-up or driver integration<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What can you expect in return:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Salary in the range of \u00a365,000 &#8211; \u00a385,000, dependent on experience<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>Private health and dental care<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Subsidised onsite restaurant<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Enhanced pension contribution<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Flexible working hours<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Employee assistance programme<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Free onsite parking<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Regular social events<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Interested?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If this sounds like the kind of role where you could make a real impact, I\u2019d welcome a confidential conversation.
