As a kid, I loved puzzles. Proper brainteasers. I could spend hours cracking on, totally in my own world. So it’s not too surprising that I’ve ended up in recruitment. After all, each hiring assignment is a new puzzle to solve, right? No two searches are ever the same, no two businesses think alike, and no two candidates have precisely the same skills & personalities.

Just like puzzles, recruitment tests your brain. You could pitch the same role to the same candidate, in two different ways, and each way leads to a wildly different outcome. I enjoy that sense of personal responsibility in my career; I decide what I work on, how I work it, who I put forward and how I manage the process – after all, it’s my reputation on the line!

Before working in recruitment, I had no idea about manufacturing. Honestly. I probably would’ve assumed that we didn’t manufacture anything in the UK and it all came from China. But the last decade in recruitment (yikes!) has opened my eyes to the incredible landscape of manufacturing. Even manufacturing itself, is just another puzzle to solve!
