Head of UK Marketing at Spectral MD

Company Background

Spectral MD Holdings, Ltd. (AIM:SMD) based in London, UK and Dallas, TX is a predictive analytics and diagnostics company with proprietary AI algorithms and optical technology for faster and more accurate treatment decisions in wound care. They had plans to develop their offering into the UK and work with the NHS to launch its very own UK Division with a need to partner with a recruitment agency to hire key members in the UK, from their Texas office.

Spectral MD approached The ONE Group to assist them with their international recruitment efforts for the first of these roles due to a recommendation and our success and experience in delivering quality candidates.

The Brief

In the last quarter of 2022, the opportunity for a Head of UK Marketing role was presented to Harry Bragg, one of our Marketing Recruitment Specialists. One of the first marketing roles to be hired within the new UK Division, this role would report directly into the VP of Marketing and Commercialisation based in Texas, meaning this role would be predominately a video-managed relationship.

Spectral MD understood that there would be some challenges in the recruitment process due to the nature of the role and the background and experience required, the time difference faced, and the role being standalone until more of the team are put in place.

The Process

An initial meeting was held between Spectral MD and Harry where all the requirements for the Head of UK Marketing were recorded and Harry assisted with the salary and benefits package for this type of role. The role had specific requirements to fit in with the international management element as well as the background, maturity, and experience needed for the role’s objectives. The desired candidate would need to be willing to work remotely before being able to find an office for the team to be based in.

Within a month, Harry provided a shortlist of candidates and Spectral MD conducted online interviews. They offered the role to one of these candidates not only due to the personality fit and cultural match but they were impressed with the calibre of the candidates and that Harry had ensured that all their distinctive requirements were met.

The Result

Even with challenges with the international element of this recruitment process, it ran smoothly with continuous communication throughout being clear and timely. Spectral MD were impressed with the candidates presented meeting the very specific brief. And the chosen candidate had all the desired and non-negotiable attributes for the role to complete and balance out the knowledge and experience within the team.
