Job Opportunity: Assistant Finance Manager

Reporting to: Senior Finance Manager

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

The Accountancy and Finance Division at The ONE Group is excited to be working for a growing and reputable business based in Northampton. Our client is seeking a Management Accountant / Assistant Finance Manager with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach. This role is key in maintaining their Nominal Ledger, managing cash flow, and supporting financial reporting, budget preparation, and audits. It's an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional ready to contribute to strategic decision-making in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Nominal Ledger and Fixed Assets.
  • Monitor daily cash flow and provide accurate cash flow forecasting.
  • Complete weekly and monthly financial reporting in collaboration with Finance and Operations teams.
  • Calculate accruals and prepayments, post journals, and ensure timely month-end close.
  • Analyse monthly performance against prior month, budget, and prior year.
  • Ensure balance sheet transparency by reconciling accounts monthly and resolving issues promptly.
  • Assist with budgets and forecasts, including balance sheet and cash flow.
  • Support both external and internal audit processes.
  • Complete quarterly VAT Return and tax reconciliations.
  • Deliver ad hoc reporting and analysis for Senior Management.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in a similar role; distribution, supply chain or logistics experience is desirable.
  • AAT / Part Qualified CIMA or ACCA/ equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of foreign currency and tax handling (desirable).
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-changing environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of Sage is an advantage.
  • Strong reporting, presentation, and risk management skills.
  • Excellent relationship and collaboration skills.
