We’re working with a leading high-performance engineering manufacturer in Northampton who are looking to recruit a Metrology Lead / Inspection Manager to join their advanced manufacturing operation.

This is a hands-on leadership role, overseeing a team of CMM Programmers, Operators and Inspection Technicians, ensuring components meet the required quality standards.

You’ll be involved in everything from developing CMM programmes and supporting production through to resolving complex measurement issues and driving improvements across the inspection department.

The Role:

• Lead and support a team of CMM Programmers, Operators and Inspection Technicians, overseeing daily inspection activities and workloads.

• Develop, programme and prove out CMM measurement programmes using Zeiss Calypso, ensuring accurate inspection of complex components.

• Lead metrology investigations, support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve manufacturing and quality concerns.

• Support NPI activities, including first article inspections, initial sample reports, control plans and ongoing measurement improvements.

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong background in CMM programming using Zeiss Calypso, ideally with experience measuring complex geometries and freeform surfaces.

• Previous experience leading or supervising an inspection/metrology team within a precision manufacturing environment.

• Excellent understanding of GD&T, engineering drawings, measurement techniques and manufacturing processes.

• Experience with MSA, Gauge R&R, root cause analysis and quality inspection processes, with a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.

This would suit an experienced Lead Metrologist, Senior CMM Programmer or Inspection Manager looking to take ownership of a metrology function within a high-performance manufacturing environment.
