As an experienced HR Business Partner you’ll enjoy working closely with leaders, influencing people decisions and balancing strategic priorities with hands-on HR delivery. You’ll thrive in fast paced environments and have the ability to support and influence others

This 18 month, fixed term maternity cover contract, will see you operating within a complex, fast-paced environment; you’ll work closely with business leaders to translate organisational objectives into effective people plans. From workforce planning and organisational design to employee relations, talent development and change, this is a varied role offering genuine scope to influence.

What you’ll be doing

  • Partnering with business leaders to develop and deliver people strategies aligned with organisational objectives

  • Advising on workforce planning, organisational design, succession planning and talent management

  • Acting as a trusted advisor on employee relations matters, ensuring a consistent and commercially considered approach

  • Coaching and supporting managers to strengthen leadership capability, engagement and team effectiveness

  • Supporting performance management, talent reviews, development planning and performance improvement

  • Using workforce data and HR metrics to identify trends and inform decision-making

  • Leading and supporting organisational change initiatives

  • Working alongside Talent Acquisition to support recruitment and workforce requirements

  • Developing employee engagement initiatives and associated action plans

  • Collaborating with specialist HR teams across reward, benefits, learning and development, and inclusion

  • Supporting annual HR activities, including salary reviews, succession planning and talent assessments

  • Identifying opportunities to improve HR processes and the overall employee experience

  • Ensuring compliance with employment legislation, internal policies and HR governance requirements

What we’re looking for

You’ll be an established HR professional with experience partnering with leaders in a sizeable or complex organisation. You’ll be comfortable moving between strategic conversations and operational delivery, building credibility quickly and providing practical, commercially focused advice.

You’ll also bring:

  • Strong HR Business Partnering or generalist HR experience

  • Sound knowledge of UK employment legislation and employee relations

  • Experience coaching and influencing managers and senior stakeholders

  • The ability to interpret people data and turn insights into practical recommendations

  • Strong judgement, critical thinking and decision-making skills

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • Experience supporting organisational change and people initiatives

  • A collaborative, pragmatic and solutions-focused approach

 

Salary and benefits

  • Salary of £49,000 – £58,000

  • Bonus

  • 25 days’ annual leave plus eight bank holidays

OUR STORY

Key events timeline

2004

Doors open in Peterborough.

Our first office launches with a team of six on Lynch Wood. Cambridge follows the same year, giving us two offices before our first anniversary.

2015

Northampton makes it three.

Our third office opens with a team of five, quickly growing to eleven consultants covering the wider Midlands region.

2017

Peterborough moves across the road.

The team has outgrown the founding office. We move into Arena House on Lynch Wood, big enough for a growing consultant base and the back-office team that supports the whole group.

2018

Cambridge moves too.

Our second office relocates to Cambourne Business Park, giving the growing Cambridge team the space it now needs.

2023

Four offices, three counties, one very good year.

The Hertfordshire & Essex office opens in Potters Bar, extending our footprint into the Home Counties.

In the same year, we're named Business of the Year in Northamptonshire, and Employer of the Year in both Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire at the regional SME Business Awards. Three counties, three panels.

Still growing.
